Cuil.com? Google killed has arrived?

Cuil, a new search engine that was created by former Google employees, was launched last Monday . It was launched as a reply to G’s algorithm whose most important ranking factor is general trust of a domain.

Cuil.com

Cuil.com claims that they haveĀ 121,617,892,992 indexed pages in their database and they also claim that it’s the biggest database of indexed pages in the world. Google says otherwise.

Will Cuil.com be the google killer? Will Cuil.com be the “perfect google”, the one we love and hate? These questions have found themselves an answer in a very short week. Cuil.com claimed that they would kick google out of this business by last Thursday. Seems like this didn’t happen yet.

Cuil.com seems a failure. Although their traffic made a big skip forward (Alexa rank was 1,200,000 this Monday and now it’s ~5,000), they have no chances against the Big G.

All I want to say is, good luck Cuil, I’m with you!

P.S : Watch this blog banned from google after the last phrase :)

How to : Improve your Alexa Rank

Before anything, I should apologize for my absence during the past 3 weeks.

We all heard about alexa’s updated algorithm on sorting the traffic rankings. I’ve been doing some tests since then and here’s what I discovered.

1) Use the alexa traffic rank widget. Example : reviewgadgetblog.com. The site was getting 500+ visits/day and its alexa remained at 1,2-1,4 million. After I put the alexa widget, the site dropped to 952,000. Notable is that the site now receives just 40-60 visits/daily. Imagine my rank with the traffic it used to be AND the widget :)

2) Use the alexa toolbar. Yeah this one still counts. I un-installed the alexa toolbar for a couple of weeks. My rankings dropped since then (I’m using the toolbar now though).

3) Quality of traffic doesn’t matter. Yeah it doesn’t.Example: XETB.com averages 500 visits/day from Iran and its alexa rank is stabled between 300,000-380,000; This being said, you can try using some auto-surf programs to improve your rank.

That’s about it, not many changes from the last algorithm. I will keep this post updated in case I find something new.
